Imagine for a minute a child waking up on a Christmas morning with nothing to open as a gift. And imagine what the parents of that child feels like; the heartbreak of not having anything to give their child.
Most of us will never know that feeling, but there are hundreds of children here in San Diego that has nothing on Christmas. Not even the hope of the true meaning of Christmas. Toys-For-Joy has been blessing needy children and families with that hope for over 12 years. Each year donated toys from individuals and companies are facilitated by The Rock Church in an annual event in the inner city of San Diego where thousands of children get to receive a free toy and monetary and food donations for families to enjoy for Christmas.
The Share Ministry takes part by coordinating the contributions and distribution of donated clothing for children, men and women during the Toys-For-Joy event.
Share-My-Dress is a Share Ministry program designed to encourage girls to donate their prom and special occasion dresses to those who cannot afford to finance the costly experience of going to their prom, sweet 16, quinceanera or formal on their own.
During seasons of these formal occasions, the Share Ministry holds a "shopping event" in inner cities where underprivileged young girls can choose from a variety of almost new dresses. Girls are treated with a day spa and beauty consultations - a girls-day-out that teaches self-worth and builds self-confidence.
Paying bills imposes heavy burdens on families especially during these turbulent economic times. Many of us have experienced the impact on our jobs, decreased levels of income, and a dramatic increase in personal and medical bills. Financial difficulties are hard for everyone to acknowledge, especially during times of great crisis.
The Share Ministry Share-Back-On-Your-Feet Program offers financial resources that may help with a variety of needs and unique situations. Share offers to pay rent and utility bills for qualified families until they are able to get back on their feet. In some cases, the Share Ministry may even cover child care expenses, secured and unsecured debts and tuition fees.
Share-Your-Blessings is a program that allows anyone with the God-given ability to give freely of what God has entrusted them with. This includes giving time, material goods and financial resources with joy, eagerness and without any ulterior motives, that would benefit those who are in need. Consider a struggling single mom who needs a stroller for her child, a family that lost everything due to a tragic event or an unemployed person who needs a good suit for a job interview, or even a homeless person without shoes or jacket.
The Share Ministry provides a helping hand to families and individuals who are in any type of need or who have fallen on hard times. Everyone can benefit from Share-Your-Blessings Program whatever their situation may be. If you want to make a financial donation, please click here.
Share-A-Quarter Drive is a fundraising project with the goal of having a stream of financial donations that will be simple to organize, provide consistent funding for Share programs and improve Share Ministry's presence and name recognition in the community. Finding a donor will be easy because almost everyone can participate. A large segment of the local population will almost always have "quarters or extra change" in their pockets as they go about their daily lives on visits to fast-food restaurants, gas stations, arcades, etc. Part of this campaign is soliciting local businesses to support the campaign and permit us to place collection containers in their businesses.
Los Primos Mexican Restaurant has committed to participate and allow collection containers displayed in all their 18 stores in San Diego County.
